HPF Frequencies Cheat Sheet

I promise not to sell your information, that's not cool.

This is a PDF that shows all the lowest fundamental frequencies for the most common sources found on an input list. It also shows my "starting point" setting for all high pass filters.

I often will set a HPF slightly higher than the lowest fundamental frequency because of its utility in a mix.

An acoustic guitar, for example, can produce 80Hz with its lowest open E string, but rarely do I need 80Hz from an acoustic taking up space in a live mix.

Setting high pass filters is the FIRST thing I do to a mix and is the highest leverage move toward a clean and punch professional FOH mix.
